Guide to Palm Springs

About a decade ago my husband and I were looking for a vacation destination to explore, play tennis and relax.  We landed on Palm Springs, California.  It was our first time in the California desert and our time there was magical. From hiking the San Jacinta Mountains, to checking out the mid-century architecture, shopping, Joshua Tree…there is so much to do.

Because we had such a fabulous time, we ended up returning a few years later for the BNP Paribas Open tennis tournament.  I’m more of a tennis player than a spectator, but this venue is right up my alley for watching the pros play.  It was easy to get to and the grounds were beautiful.  Not to mention our fabulous lunch at Nobu overlooking an empty court…and who walks into practice? No other than Novak Djokovic.  It was a spectacular meal made even better watching one of the world’s best tennis players warm up.

You don’t have to be a tennis player to love Palm Springs.  This picturesque desert oasis is known for its luxurious resorts, tremendous amounts of mid-century architecture, vibrant nightlife, and natural beauty.  We also included spots in nearby Indian Wells which is just a short drive to Palm Springs. If you are planning a visit to this charming city, here are some of the top-rated restaurants, outdoor activities, and shopping stops to check out:
