Retro Chic Interior Design

Project: Pink Cabana

I’m excited to share this month’s destination inspiration.  The Pink Cabana restaurant located in Sands Hotel in Indian Wells, CA (just a short drive from Palm Springs!). The Pink Cabana is a mix of retro nostalgia of tennis clubs from the past with a mix of contemporary chic.  It was designed by Martyn Lawrence Bullard and is truly an Instagram-able location.   Bullard also designed the Sands Hotel, which houses The Pink Cabana restaurant. I love his mix of Moroccan, mid-century and playful tile.   How fun would a stay at this hotel be? This is an 18 and up type of stay so this one will have to sit in my bucket list for a bit.   Meanwhile I’ll live vicariously through this design.

One of the elements you’ll notice in this set of designs are the heavy use of wallpaper.  We even suggest it for the ceilings in two of our upcoming designs.  Pattern and color are major players in this design concept.  We’ve muted the colors in a few of the spaces to better align with our Lei Low aesthetic but feel free to go punchy if that speaks to your designing heart.

The Concept

The Pink Cabana concept features muted pink and deep green hues.  Elements of this design include curved furniture pieces, interesting lighting fixtures with mid-century influence and a few fun palm patterns. Textural materials such as cane, rattan and sisal round out the design and add warmth to the spaces.

Our first inspired design leans a bit more modern and swanky. We envision this design in a condo or apartment. The small scale furniture and glam elements are perfect for any city dwelling space. We love the palm printed chairs for the dining room paired with the gold accents.

Coming up

Here is a sneak peek for next week’s designs. We designed these around a family home with older kids, hence the more casual vibe.  We can’t wait to show you more of these concepts!

Check back next week for more designs inspired by The Pink Cabana. And if you’d like sources of any of the items fill out the form below, I’m happy to send them to you.
